A logistics and trading company in Singapore seeks a Physical Cargo Operations Specialist. The role involves managing end-to-end cargo execution, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate has a degree in a related field and 3–4 years of hands-on experience in cargo or shipping operations, with strong analytical and communication skills.
We are seeking a capable and detail-oriented Physical Cargo Operations Specialist to support our growing trading and logistics activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end cargo execution, coordinating with a wide range of external stakeholders, and ensuring smooth operational delivery from loading to final discharge. This role requires strong technical knowledge of physical cargo workflows, vessel operations, and regulatory requirements, along with the ability to troubleshoot operational issues in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, solutions‑driven, and able to work collaboratively with traders, finance, and risk teams to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient cargo operations.
Manage full execution of physical cargo movements from nomination to final delivery.
Oversee loading, discharge, vessel operations, and logistics coordination.
Liaise with shipowners, agents, surveyors, terminals, and inspection companies.
Maintain strong relationships with port authorities and logistics partners.
Prepare and verify all operational documents (BLs, COQs, LOIs, shipping instructions, regulatory forms).
Ensure adherence to regulatory, safety, and HSSE requirements.
Monitor voyage progress, resolve operational issues, and minimise delays/disruptions.
Improve processes to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Support blending and quality‑control operations where applicable.
Maintain accurate operational records, voyage files, and KPIs.
Provide operational updates and support month‑end reporting.
Identify operational risks and support mitigation measures.
Assist in preparing evidence for demurrage, cargo, and operational claims.
Work closely with traders, finance, risk, and legal teams to enable smooth cargo execution.
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
3–4 years of hands‑on experience in physical cargo, shipping, or inspection operations—preferably within trading, energy, or marine logistics.
Strong understanding of physical trading workflows, vessel operations, global logistics, and industry regulations.
Experience with fuel oil or blending operations is an advantage.
Proficiency in cargo management platforms, operational software, and Excel.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
Ability to manage multiple cargoes simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
High attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy.
