Contract Dates: November 2, 2022 – March 31, 2023
Total Hours per week: 42 hours (average). 12 hours per day, rotating shifts, three days a week one week having 36 hours a week and four days a week the following week (48 hours a week). Shifts are Monday through Saturday, from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. (Sunday work may be requested).
Job Duties: Responsible for operating one packaging line or tray, and scale equipment in the processing of value‑added fresh vegetable products. Operates Hayssen packaging and scale equipment and tray equipment. Performs setups, shutdowns, and adjusts control settings and logics. Resolves problems relating to specifications for packaging quality, weights, fills, seals, tray, and film runs. Performs quality checks, product and film changeovers, mechanical adjustments, and required paperwork. Assists dryer, packaging, and stacking teams to ensure productivity accuracy and efficiency. Ensures quality and safety of raw and finished product. Ensures safe operating process for all equipment.
Requirements: High School diploma/GED or equivalent. At least 12 months experience in a production environment, preferably in manufacturing and food. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Solid mechanical skills. Ability to write and speak in English. Hands‑on ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented food processing environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Must have the ability to make decisions. Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co‑workers, understand and follow posted work rules, procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
Training: Training will be provided for 30 days from each worker's initial date of employment. The employer will provide on‑the‑job training in the proper use and maintenance of tools, supplies, or equipment required in the performance of work.
Salary: $15.86 per hour. Workers will be paid no less than $15.86 per hour. A higher rate may apply based on experience, productivity and/or market conditions. Workers will be paid bi‑weekly by pay card or direct deposit.
Overtime: For work performed in North Carolina, an overtime premium will be paid when required by federal, state, or local law, including at time‑and‑a‑half after 40 hours in a workweek. Thus, non‑exempt overtime hours will be paid at $23.79. Overtime hours may vary.
Benefits and Assistance: Employer may assist the employee in locating housing and may offer a $500 stipend for rent. Employer may reimburse inbound transportation and daily subsistence costs for corresponding U.S. workers. H‑2B workers will be reimbursed in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). Employer will provide all tools, supplies, and equipment needed to perform the job at no cost to the employee. Employer guarantees a minimum of three‑quarters of work hours in each 12‑week period during the employer period.
