Job Description

• We are seeking an experienced Node.js Backend Developer to design, implement, and operate secure and scalable backend services on AWS.
• You will work extensively with AWS serverless services and event‑driven architectures to deliver robust APIs and backend solutions.
• The ideal candidate is a strong hands‑on Node.js developer with in‑depth knowledge of AWS best practices, secure coding standards, and modern CI/CD workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development & Architecture Design, build, and deploy backend services, APIs, and AWS Lambda functions using Node.js. Architect secure, scalable API‑driven and event‑driven workloads leveraging AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, Secrets Manager, SQS, SNS, and EventBridge.
• Deliver features end‑to‑end based on user stories, technical designs, and acceptance criteria.
• Technical Analysis & Solutioning: Review requirements and user stories for technical feasibility, effort, risk, and scope.
• Recommend pragmatic alternatives or improvements when needed.
• Perform issue investigations, root‑cause analysis, and implement resilient fixes along with test coverage.
• Quality, Security & Compliance: Uphold a “quality‑first” mindset by writing clean, testable, maintainable code; develop and maintain unit and integration tests; ensure performance optimization, WCAG accessibility compliance, and adherence to security best practices.
• Maintain coding standards and contribute to improving shared components and libraries through code reviews.
• Collaboration & Agile Delivery: Work closely with Business Analysts to refine acceptance criteria, clarify edge cases, and ensure alignment with business value; participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as backlog grooming, daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives; provide accurate estimations and deliver commitments on time.
• DevOps & Operational Excellence: Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines, feature flagging strategies, and observability improvements; ensure safe, frequent releases with strong monitoring, logging, and alerting practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience with Node.js and backend API development.
• Practical expertise in AWS services, especially Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Secrets Manager.
• Solid understanding of secure coding, AWS security controls, and compliance considerations.
• Experience with automated testing (unit, integration) and writing clean, maintainable code.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to perform detailed root‑cause analysis.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
