Job summary

A leading diagnostics company is looking for a Medical Affairs professional in Singapore, responsible for supporting medical affairs in infectious diseases. The ideal candidate holds an MD or PhD in a relevant field and has at least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or IVD industry. Responsibilities include managing medical education programs, generating clinical evidence, and building relationships with key opinion leaders. Fluent English and willingness to travel are required. Job description
Overall objective / Mission

As responsible for supporting medical affairs in the country/cluster:

  • Keep up to date with scientific and medical knowledge in the areas of interest for the company(mainly Infectious Diseases/ Microbiology and Acute care) to provide relevant advice to appropriate individuals within the country/cluster attend pertinent sessions of healthcare-associated meetings(government, NGO, medical, patient, etc.)
  • Meet with KOLs/experts and healthcare providers and be knowledgeable in the relevant medical literature, developments and guidelines, map and develop the ASEAN Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) pool.
  • Be the internal Medical Expert for the subsidiary, to inform Global and Regional Medical Affairs about local unmet medical needs and to provide appropriate medical expertise, when and if needed.
  • Develop and manage the medical education programs to leverage the role and value of diagnostic tests in the management of infectious diseases and other strategic disease areas.
  • Generate and utilize clinical evidence to enhance the medical and health economic values by literature review and conduct clinical studies.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Establish medical affairs processes and ensure medical compliance (such as contracts with HCPs)
Main Accountabilities

Scientific Expertise and Exchange:

  • Provide accurate, balanced, and timely scientific information to HCPs, researchers, and other stakeholders.
  • Engage discussions with key opinion leaders (KOLs), HCPs, and other stakeholders to support clinical and scientific needs.
  • Provide evidence‑based replies to medical queries and support claims.
Medical Education and Training
  • Lead training programs to train internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate medical education programs or projects and deliver information to external audience.
  • Develop internal & external used training/education materials & tools.
Clinical Evidence generation
  • Identify potential research gaps and contribute to local post market studies when necessary (contact with investigators, creation and validation of study design, study monitoring, results analysis, etc.). Search and review clinical and/or health economic evidence by reviewing literature and guidelines.
  • Conduct post‑market local clinical studies and coordinate investigator‑initiated studies to generate new clinical data, according to the needs and priorities defined for each franchise.
KOL management and cross function cooperation
  • Map the ASEAN KOLs and develop the regional KOLs pool.
  • Develop relationship with Medical Societies to influence the development and update of local guidelines.
  • Facilitate scientific discussions, gather insights, and provide feedback to internal teams on market trends, clinical practices, and competitive intelligence.
  • Work effectively with Global and Regional Medical Affairs, local and regional marketing, legal, RA, QA, market access, and internal stakeholders to support product development and commercialization.
Medical Compliance and Ethical Conduct
  • Establish Medical Affairs related procedures (SOP)
  • Ensure ASEAN medical programs and clinical studies are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and company policies.
  • Ensure the compliance for product promotion materials & activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, all relevant laws and regulations.
Profile
  • MD degree and specialty in clinical medicine, MD degree or PhD in Microbiology/Infectious Disease/related discipline highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a medical affairs position in IVD or pharmaceutical industry.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to a range of internal and external customers: active listening, crucial conversation, and offering support when needed.
  • Experience with conducting medical affairs related activities and delivering on medical education/training, advisory board meetings, studies management/project management.
  • Skilful in application like CRM/salesforce.com previously or MA tracking tools is a plus.
  • Understand and present data, as appropriate as well as Bio statistical analytic skills intermediate.
  • Problem solving / judgment / conceptual and analytical thinking.
  • Independent, able to manage relationships with work colleagues and drive daily operations and delivery of the presentation of the same to management.
  • Experience in Microbiology/Infectious Disease/Antimicrobial Stewardship is an advantage.
  • Fluent in both oral and written English.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 40%)
