A leading engineering company in Singapore is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for leading and executing mechanical engineering activities for FPSO topsides and marine systems. The role includes design, specification, selection, and assurance of mechanical packages and equipment. Candidates must have at least 8-12 years of experience in the field involving offshore projects, along with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. This role requires strong technical skills in relevant industry standards and engineering software.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading and executing mechanical engineering activities for FPSO topsides and marine systems. This role covers design, specification, selection, integration, and assurance of mechanical packages and rotating/static equipment throughout FEED, EPC, and commissioning phases. The engineer ensures all mechanical deliverables meet project requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Develop and review mechanical engineering deliverables including specifications, datasheets, calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
Lead mechanical design for rotating and static equipment such as compressors, pumps, turbines, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, separators, and utility packages.
Ensure designs comply with project specifications, Class requirements, API/ASME/ISO standards, and regulatory codes.
Perform equipment sizing, hydraulic calculations, thermal calculations, and mechanical integrity assessments.
Prepare technical requisitions, evaluate vendor bids, and perform Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE).
Review vendor documents, participate in design reviews (PDR, IDR, MDR, FAT, SAT).
Provide technical support during package integration and interface resolution between disciplines and vendors.
Ensure vendor data aligns with project documents, 3D model, and engineering schedule.
Coordinate mechanical engineering activities across disciplines (Process, Piping, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, HVAC, Marine).
Support engineering managers in planning, scheduling, and progress reporting.
Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, model reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
Ensure mechanical designs consider operability, maintainability, reliability, and constructability.
Provide engineering expertise for FPSO systems including:
Crude oil separation and treatment
Gas compression and treatment
Produced water treatment
Seawater lift & cooling medium systems
Utility systems (air, nitrogen, chemical injection, fuel gas, firewater, etc.)
Mechanical handling, lifting equipment, HVAC (as required)
Ensure integration of mechanical packages with hull, turret, and marine systems.
Support yard engineering, construction, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
Review method statements, installation procedures, punch lists, and resolve site technical queries.
Participate in factory/site acceptance tests when required.
Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality standards and project KPIs.
Promote safe engineering design that meets Class and regulatory requirements.
Manage management-of-change (MOC) activities and ensure traceability.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Professional Engineering certification is an advantage.
Minimum 8–12 years’ experience in mechanical engineering within offshore, FPSO, or oil & gas EPC projects.
Strong background in rotating and static equipment design and package engineering.
Experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, and EPC execution.
Strong knowledge of API, ASME, NORSOK, ISO standards.
Proficiency in engineering software such as:
Compress, PVElite, HTRI, Caesar II (added advantage)
3D model review tools (Navisworks, E3D)
Strong understanding of process, piping, and structural interfaces.
