Job description

XCL World Academy is seeking to appoint a Secondary Years Mathematics & Science Teacher. This is a full-time contract position commencing in January 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics & Science within the Foundational English Programme (FEP), specifically for Grades 6, 7, and 8.

Applicants with subject-specific IB teaching experience and a proven track record of effective teaching in international school settings will be given preference.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Teachers should be willing to contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the school.
  • Demonstrates professional ethics, international mindedness and school's mission.
  • Adheres cooperatively to XCL’s policies and regulations, including duties, deadlines and programme requirement (IB).
  • Seeks clarification in case of lack of clarity in order to fully meet all expectations of the role and sets and maintains high standards of professionalism.
  • Contributes to the development of curriculum and assessment documentations.
  • Show exemplary attendance to work eg. recognizes the importance and provides support for XCL extended school day activities.
Person specification:
  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized university or college
  • Teaching experience and professional certification specific to applied position
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a class teacher, preferably in an international K-12 school.
  • Preferred minimum 2 years of relevant IB programme experience
  • Possess skills and attitudes aligned to the purpose, mission and vision of XCL World Academy
  • Need clear eagerness, resilience and understanding to engage and collaborate in the development of a highly aspirational school.
  • Have demonstrated commitment and education and learning beyond the classroom.
  • Be flexible and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Salary commensurate with experience (International School) and according to the school's teaching scale.
  • This is a Jan 2026 to July 2027 full-time contract position, subsequent renewals are 2 years contract postions.
  • While instruction is primarily in English, the ability to communicate in Mandarin will be an advantage in supporting FEP students whose first language is Mandarin.
