Job summary

A marine operations company in Singapore is looking for a professional with extensive experience on chemical tankers. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring onboard operations, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with safety management systems, and providing crew training. Ideal applicants must hold a Certificate of Competency Class 1 Master Mariner and have over 3 years' experience as Captain or Chief Mate on vessels of Panamax size and above.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Captain or Chief Mate on chemical tankers for over 3 years.
  • Familiarity with Panamax vessels and above.

Job description

Monitoring and reviewing onboard marine operations, including:

  1. Reviewing cargo operation plans and providing guidance.
  2. Reviewing tank cleaning plans and providing guidance.
  3. Conducting Risk Assessments (RA) for various onboard operations.
  4. Performing internal audits and attending vessels for various operational purposes.
  5. Reviewing operational handling guidelines.

Additional responsibilities include:

Navigational Safety Management

  • Reviewing passage plans and navigational practices, and providing feedback.
  1. Incident / Near-miss Investigation & Follow-up
  2. Conducting investigations, performing root cause analysis (RCA), and monitoring corrective actions.
  3. Vetting / PSC / External Inspection Support
  4. Preparing vessels for vetting, PSC, and other external inspections and providing technical guidance.Crew Competency & Training
  5. Assessing crew competency and conducting briefings/training on cargo, safety, and emergency procedures.
  6. SMS Compliance & Improvement
  7. Ensuring compliance with the Safety Management System and proposing improvements when required.
  8. Emergency Response Drill Support
  9. Supporting and evaluating emergency drills and providing recommendations for improvement.
  10. Performance Monitoring
  11. Monitoring vessel performance (fuel efficiency, navigation, cargo operations) and recommending improvement measures.
  12. Environmental Compliance
  13. Ensuring MARPOL and other environmental regulations are strictly followed.
  14. Maintenance & Reliability Review
  15. Reviewing the condition of critical equipment and verifying PMS compliance.

Experiences required:

Chemical tanker onboard as a Captain ( More than 3years) & Chief mate ( More than 3years).

Vessel size : Panamax and above.

Education : Marine related - academy; Certificate of Competency Class 1 Master Mariner
