Marine Operations Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day marine operations of assigned vessels, ensuring safe navigation,
- cargo operations, and adherence to company procedures
- Provide operational guidance and decision support to Masters and vessel crews
- Review and support voyage planning, cargo operations, and marine fuel transfer activities
HSEQ Management and Compliance
- Implement and maintain the Safety Management System in accordance with the ISM Code
- Ensure compliance with MPA requirements, flag state regulations, class rules, and international conventions including SOLAS, MARPOL, and STCW
- Support safe handling, storage, and transfer of alternative fuels including biofuels and methanol in accordance with approved procedures and risk assessments
Audits, Inspections, and Assurance
- Conduct vessel inspections, internal audits, and operational assessments
- Prepare vessels for inspections and audits by MPA, flag state, class, charterers, and terminal operators
- Track, monitor, and close out audit findings, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions
Incident Management and Risk Control
- Lead or support investigations into marine incidents, non-conformities, and near misses
- Identify operational risks and implement preventive and corrective measures
- Support emergency preparedness, response planning, and drills Operational and Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with Chartering, Post-Fixture, Technical, and Commercial teams to support safe and efficient voyage execution
- Liaise with terminals, pilots, agents, surveyors, and service providers on marine safety and operational matters
- Support customer and counterparty marine assurance requirements
Training and Safety Culture
- Support crew competency, familiarisation, and training related to HSEQ, cargo operations, and alternative fuels
- Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across shipboard and shore-based teams
Qualifications
- Master Mariner (Foreign Going), or
- Chief Mate with relevant tanker endorsement
Sailing Experience
Sailing experience on one or more of the following vessel types is required:
- Chemical tankers
- Product tankers
Additional Requirements
- Shore-based experience in marine operations, HSEQ, or superintendent roles is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, and MPA regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with alternative fuels such as biofuels and methanol is an advantage
- Ability to work independently with sound judgement in a safety-critical environment
- Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
