Consult clients on desired nail shape, style, color, and treatment needs.
Assess nail and skin condition (e.g., brittle nails, dry cuticles, minor damage) and recommend suitable services.
Perform standard manicure services, including:
Nail cleansing and preparation
Nail trimming, filing, shaping, and buffing
Cuticle care (softening, pushing back, trimming where appropriate)
Hand exfoliation and moisturizing treatments
Hand and arm massage (if offered by the salon)
Polish application (base coat, color, top coat) with clean finishing
Provide advanced nail services (if trained/authorized), such as:
Gel polish application and removal
Acrylic/gel extensions and overlays
Nail art (basic to advanced designs)
Nail repair (e.g., patching or reinforcing weak nails)
Paraffin wax treatments (where available)
Maintain strict sanitation practices before, during, and after each service.
Disinfect tools and workstations according to salon and local health regulations.
Use single-use/disposable items where required (files, buffers, wooden sticks, etc.).
Wear appropriate PPE when necessary (gloves/masks) and practice safe chemical handling.
Identify situations requiring refusal of service (e.g., suspected fungal infection, open wounds) and refer clients appropriately.
Provide a welcoming and professional customer experience.
Ensure client comfort and explain each step of the service when needed.
Manage client expectations about results, durability, aftercare, and maintenance schedules.
Handle client feedback or complaints calmly and professionally.
Educate clients on aftercare (moisturizing, cuticle care, avoiding nail damage, safe removal practices).
Recommend suitable nail care products (cuticle oil, hand cream, strengthening treatments).
Promote salon services (add-ons like gel upgrades, nail art, spa treatments) without pressure.
Stay updated on nail trends, colors, seasonal styles, and new products/techniques.
Prepare the workstation before appointments and reset it afterward.
Maintain inventory levels (polish, removers, cotton, gloves, disinfectants, tips, gels).
Label and store products properly, especially chemicals.
Assist with appointment scheduling, confirmations, and client records (if required).
Process payments and ensure accurate service billing (depending on salon setup).
Maintain required licenses/certifications (where applicable).
Attend training to improve technique and keep up with industry standards.
Work efficiently to meet appointment times while maintaining quality.
Follow salon policies on uniform, punctuality, client privacy, and conduct.
