Managing Director – Investment Banking / M&A

We represent an independent, boutique investment banking advisory firm headquartered in Singapore, with a Pan-Asian presence. Their key business activities involve Private Financing, M&A and Restructuring advisory services across industry verticals with a focus on the TMT, Consumer/Retail, Industrials, Real Estate/Hospitality and Infrastructure sectors. They are looking to bring on board a Managing Director as part of their expansion plans.

Profit and Loss Responsibility
  • Responsibility to achieve revenue targets individually and as a team within the requisite cost parameters and within set timelines
Business Development
  • Create and manage new deal flow and originate new client engagements that fit the strategy of the firm (midmarket)
  • Should be involved in Designing and Implementation Strategy to identify opportunities in product line and Investment banking field.
  • Deep understanding of the industry and trends thereby identifying potential clients and opportunities.
  • Actively lead in outreach and business development opportunities and market full range of services to prospective clients.
  • Develop and implement business generation initiatives
  • Participating in the company's marketing/business development efforts
  • Partnering with senior bankers to develop ideas for potential clients
Relationship Management
  • Managing the client relationships at appropriate levels.
  • Relationship with Investor community (Private Equity Funds/Banks/Financial Institutions etc.)
  • Manage a portfolio of existing clients
  • Deepen existing relationships with clients by maintaining a constant dialogue at a senior level in order to grow profitable long‑term relationship
  • Constantly build a network for long term pipeline
  • Establish and maintain relationships with potential referral sources in order to generate deal flow opportunities
  • Maintain and manage client relationships and be actively involved at the key strategic points of each transaction
Deal Execution Involvement
  • Maintain senior level touch points/relationships with clients during execution
  • Engage with clients to provide value additive input to seniors at client side during execution
  • Be the go‑to authority in deal process for counsel and guidance for the team
  • Lead on a variety of transactions in all stages, from initial client pitch to transaction closing
  • Communicate regulatory, financial information and complex strategic issues in a clear, concise and relevant manner to assist and guide decision‑makers in corporate finance transactions
  • Ensure quality of client deliverables by demonstrating extraordinary attention to detail
Process Building
  • Build work flows and processes that are not vulnerable to individuals
  • Ensure the processes enhance and expedite deal execution
Brand Building & New Lines of Revenue
  • Be part of forums/conferences/seminars to build connects
  • Protects and builds the company's brand name
  • Ensure spread and network in the market so that company is a name of choice for a pitch
  • Develop new sources of revenue
  • Ideate on strengthening of brand value through different media
  • Market services both to internal colleagues and external clients, develop client networks, establish and maintain pipeline and support efforts in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies
  • Serve as internal and external thought leader by participating in key industry conferences, publishing thought pieces, being interviewed by journalists and trade journals, and other avenues to generate exposure and build brand
Team Building
  • Continuously review team performance and communicate with them
  • Look for potential in team and monitor development
  • Initiate knowledge building and skill development programs
  • Maintain high energy and morale through engagement activities
  • Provide leadership, professional development and mentoring for VP, Associate and Analyst staff
General Responsibilities
  • Consistent revenue generation and achieve the targets set by the management
  • Mentoring and development of the team
  • Develop skills of the team members as required by the business through exposure to varied transactions etc.
Knowledge
  • Excellent understanding of specific sectors/industries including the various issues, trends and outlook for them.
