Roles & Responsibilities

Manulife Risk Management Team is looking for a self‑motivated Operational Risk Management professional, who is obsessed with delivering value, is forward‑thinking, and excited to provide hands‑on development of risk models involving market, operational risk, assure controls are operating effectively, and provide research and analytical support.

Position Responsibilities
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer in the maintenance and update of risk management policies, processes and systems to ensure that Manulife Singapore operates within MFC’s Enterprise Risk Management framework and all global risk policies.
  • Support AVP, Operational Risk Management to ensure that all Operational risk management activities such as Incident Reporting, Outsourcing, conduct of risk culture surveys and network analysis are aligned and in compliance with our policy and standards.
  • Provide local support for the Singapore risk committees by playing an active role in setting agenda, and ensuring all material risk positions, risk policies, risk taking and risk mitigation activities are reviewed by the committee, and remedial plans are developed when risk exposures are outside or are approaching risk tolerances, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify, measure and report on MLS’ operational risk exposures and to ensure risks are managed within risk tolerances.
  • Manage IT Security and Cybersecurity risk assessments, ensuring compliance with global security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support Business Continuity Management (BCM) by coordinating resilience planning, conducting periodic tests, and ensuring readiness for operational disruptions.
  • Administer communication and education initiatives to foster a risk‑aware culture in the company.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 5 years in compliance / operations role in an insurance company.
  • Well‑developed financial acumen and business orientation
  • Understanding of products developed and marketed in Singapore, and working knowledge of capital market instruments available in Singapore and risk mitigation / hedging techniques.
  • Familiarity with IT Security frameworks, Cybersecurity best practices, and BCM principles.
  • Willingness to learn new skillsets and support both financial and non‑financial risks.
  • Strong relationship building skills to build effective working relationships with local management and regional leaders.
  • Creative problem solving and the ability to motivate others to implement new solutions.
  • Ability to multi‑task and perform well under pressure.
