A leading technology solutions provider in Singapore is seeking a qualified IT professional to manage server placement, installation, and maintenance of UNIX/Linux operating systems. The ideal candidate will have a background in Computer Science or related fields, with solid server technology understanding and networking skills. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and lifecycle management of servers. Willingness to work weekends and familiarity with remote management protocols are essential. Plan and organize server placement in racks, including mounting arrangements.
Install and maintain UNIX/Linux operating systems on new and existing servers.
Reinstall OS as needed and troubleshoot system-related abnormalities.
Conduct routine server maintenance, perform troubleshooting, and handle break-fix hardware tasks.
Manage internal system data, including asset tracking, rack layout information, and ticket management.
Collaborate with remote teams or vendors to address hardware issues and batch failures.
Participate in on-call duties to resolve business-side operational issues as they arise.
Monitor and verify the status of online assets and diagnose potential problems.
Handle server decommissioning processes such as drive wiping and reconfiguration.
Provide feedback on tools, systems, and platforms for retrofitting or testing purposes.
Oversee RMA submissions and media destruction tracking.
Support full server lifecycle management from deployment to retirement.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Understanding of how server technologies and functions interconnect.
Ability to read and execute basic Shell or Bash scripts.
Proficiency in Linux systems with the ability to identify hardware issues.
Solid grasp of networking fundamentals, including MAC addresses, subnets, and TCP/IP protocols, with troubleshooting skills.
Familiarity with out-of-band or remote server management protocols such as IPMI.
Willingness and availability to work on weekends as required.
