SingaporeAcademic – German Secondary /Full Time (Fixed Term) /On-Site

Currently, more than 1800 students are learning at GESS supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members. In August 2018 GESS moved to Dairy Farm Road to a modern new school campus located at the edge of Singapore’s largest nature reserve.

For the academic year 2026 / 2027 we are looking for motivated secondary school teachers who are willing to go the extra mile, preferably to teach the following subjects or a combination thereof:

Responsibilities
  • Account for the achievement of all students
  • Teach the school’s curriculum in the subjects you are qualified for using effective and current strategies
  • Plan effectively to maximise student learning of the school’s curriculum
  • Cultivate and maintain a positive, productive and caring learning environment in the classroom
  • Maintain clear, regular and positive communication with parents
  • Attend teacher team meetings and working groups
  • Participate in school trips, including overnight, when required
  • Contribute to whole‑school development by working cross‑sectionally where required
  • Represent the school in a respectful way in all external communication
Key requirements
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience
  • Recognised teaching qualification (1st and 2nd Staatsexamen or equivalent recognised teaching qualification)

  • Knowledge, understanding or teaching experience of the German secondary school curriculum
  • Articulate and effective written and oral communication in German and English, as the medium of instruction is German
  • Humorous and resilient personality with joy for teaching and educating young students
  • Experience with teaching methods that enable individualistic learning
  • Good computer skills and experience with new media in class
  • Openness to work in an international school setting

Our School

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multilingual, not‑for‑profit, German international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. As an accredited ‘Excellent German School Abroad’, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates. In 2022, GESS will be among the best 15 schools in the final for the German School Award.

Our European Section offers tuition in English for students from grade 1 – 12 across all three IB programmes (the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma Programme) as an authorised IB World School.

Children aged 2 years onwards can enrol in our Preschool where children are following the PYP programme in German‑speaking, English‑speaking or bilingual groups.
