Job summary

An international manufacturing company based in Singapore is seeking a Legal Manager to oversee legal and compliance matters. This role involves providing legal advice, reviewing contracts, and ensuring adherence to regulations and internal controls. Ideal candidates will have a Law degree, at least 10 years of experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with Japanese stakeholders. The position requires strong collaboration and the capacity to work under pressure, providing strategic support for various projects.

Job Description

The Legal Manager reports to the Managing Director and is responsible for the planning, organizing and supervision of legal, compliance and internal control matters to achieve the objectives of the organization.

The responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Provide legal advice to functional managers to ensure their activities, policies, business practices, and transactions comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Review legal contracts, letters of agreement, and other documents from legal standpoint to identify, anticipate and mitigate legal risks.
  • Provide strategic legal support for both local and global projects, including the development andimplementation of legal strategies.
  • Administer all legal procedures relating to litigations and communicate with Headquarter in an appropriate manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring the operations of the company’s business comply with internal and external compliance standard.
  • Evaluate adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and facilitate remediation for identified control weaknesses and deficiencies.
  • Develop and manage measures to reduce business risks, including arranging appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Accountable for Legal budget and cost control.
Requirements
  • Possess a Degree in Law or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to communicate with Japanese stakeholders in spoken and written Japanese
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Good communication skill and able to collaborate with different functions
