We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join us—as a seasoned professional with strong expertise in Singapore law and regulatory matters. This role is ideal for a pragmatic lawyer who enjoys providing hands‑on legal support, working closely with business leaders, and ensuring compliance within Singapore’s legal framework. The successful candidate will bring both technical excellence and commercial acumen, with the ability to balance legal risk against business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and practical legal advice on a wide range of Singapore corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, including service agreements, licensing, partnerships, joint ventures, and employment‑related agreements.
- Advise on compliance with Singapore’s statutory and regulatory frameworks, including the Companies Act, Employment Act, Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), and other industry‑specific regulations.
- Support corporate governance matters such as board and shareholder resolutions, regulatory filings, and corporate secretarial compliance.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams (finance, HR, operations, product, and leadership) to integrate legal risk management into business decision‑making.
- Manage relationships with regulators and external counsel on Singapore‑specific issues.
- Lead or support internal initiatives to strengthen compliance programs, policies, and risk management frameworks.
Key Requirements
- Recognized law degree (LL.B. or equivalent). Admission to the Singapore Bar is preferred but not mandatory.
- 5 – 8 years of post‑qualification experience (PQE), ideally with a mix of top‑tier law firms and in‑house experience.
- Strong expertise in Singapore corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.
- Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, compliance, and risk management.
- Experience in industries such as technology, gaming, finance, or digital services will be an advantage.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to provide clear and commercially practical advice.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is required to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and counterparts in China.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with both legal and non‑legal stakeholders across diverse backgrounds.
