Contract Duration
- Base Period: 2 February 2026 to 31 December 2026
- Option Year: 2 January 2027 to 31 December 2027
The School reserves the right to extend the contract for up to one (1) additional year, in whole or in parts, subject to the same terms and conditions unless otherwise agreed.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 7:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. (inclusive of 30-minute lunch break)
- Friday: 7:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. (inclusive of 30-minute lunch break)
- No service required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays
Role Objective
The Operations Support Officer (Laboratory and Academic Support Assistant) provides laboratory, academic, and administrative support to facilitate effective teaching and learning activities within the school.
Key Responsibilities
1. Laboratory Preparation and Support
- Prepare materials, apparatus, specimens, and resources for science lessons
- Set up, test, and ensure readiness of experimental apparatus before lessons
- Assist teachers during practical lessons, demonstrations, and experiments
- Dismantle, clean, and store equipment after use
2. Laboratory Maintenance and Housekeeping
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas
- Clean and wash laboratory glassware, apparatus, and equipment
- Ensure laboratory facilities and equipment are maintained in good working condition
- Support general upkeep, including ventilation and pest control activities
3. Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to and support compliance with laboratory safety guidelines
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure proper labelling of chemicals
- Assist in safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and biological waste
4. Inventory and Resource Management
- Maintain inventory records of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables
- Conduct regular stock-taking and update inventory systems
- Support procurement planning and prepare requisitions for approval
- Receive, verify, and properly store delivered items
5. Green Environment and Sustainability Support
- Maintain plants and living specimens used in science lessons
- Support operation and upkeep of hydroponic systems and garden spaces
- Collect specimens for science experiments when required
- Coordinate with external vendors for garden and specimen maintenance
6. Administrative and School Support
- Provide general administrative and operational support as assigned
- Assist with school events, scheduling, and coordination activities
- Maintain records, documentation, and reports related to assigned duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by school management
Qualifications
Academic Qualifications
- Minimum GCE ‘O’ Level with passes in Science subjects, OR
- NITEC / Higher NITEC in a science-related field
