Job description

The IT Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing BI solutions that support operational and strategic decision-making. The role involves integrating data from multiple construction-related platforms (e.g., project management systems, ERP, safety apps, IoT sensors), building dashboards, and ensuring data accuracy and accessibility across the company.

You will collaborate closely with project teams, senior management, IT, and external partners to identify reporting needs and convert data into actionable insights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. BI Development & Reporting

• Design, build, and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and automated reports using tools such as Power BI / Tableau / Qlik.

• Develop data visualisations and analytics that support project delivery, finance, safety, and operations teams.

• Create self-service BI models ensuring usability and scalability.

2. Data Management & Integration

• Integrate data from various systems (ERP, construction management software, BIM platforms, IoT, HR/Finance tools).

• Work with IT to implement ETL pipelines and improve data quality, accuracy, and structure.

• Ensure data governance standards, documentation, and metadata are maintained.

3. Business Analysis & Stakeholder Support

• Gather and document reporting requirements with internal teams and clients.

• Analyse business processes to identify opportunities for digital improvement and automation.

• Provide technical support and training to end-users on BI dashboards and data tools.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

• Degree in Mathematics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a relevant field.

• 3 years’ experience in BI development or data analytics, preferably in construction, engineering, or built-environment tech.

• Experience with Power BI, SQL, data modelling, and ETL processes.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in SQL, DAX, and data modelling frameworks.

• Experience working with APIs and data integration tools.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) is advantageous.

• Familiarity with construction or project management software (e.g., Procore, Autodesk, Oracle Primavera, BIM platforms) is a plus.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and ability to translate technical findings into business insights.

• Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple projects independently.
