Job description

Our client, a well-known company is looking for candidates for the position of Import & Export Assistant Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and develop the import/export team to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate import/export arrangements, including permit issuance, billing, and quotation management.
  • Oversee collection management for customer payments related to invoices.
  • Implement risk management strategies, including recovery plans and proactive reporting.
  • Foster relationships with overseas branches and appointed agents.
  • Negotiate competitive rates with carriers and Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs).
  • Support sales efforts through customer visits, telemarketing, and new customer development initiatives.
  • Achieve a targeted gross trading business (GTB) amount of SGD $100,000 per year for the import/export division.
  • Maintain knowledge and manage relevant licenses such as Zero GST, MES, RACA, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and bizSAFE STAR standards.
  • Liaise with customs, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), and other relevant agencies.
  • Report performance and strategic insights to management and other departments during monthly meetings.
  • Provide monthly updates on performance metrics, strategies, and improvement outcomes.
  • Develop and execute system implementation plans with effectiveness reporting.
  • Collaborate with the group companies to create operational synergies.
  • Undertake additional duties related to import/export operations as required.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Possess relevant educational qualifications in a related field.
  • Previous experience infreight forwarding is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
