A leading automotive services company in Singapore is seeking a Hydraulics & Structural Engineer responsible for providing engineering solutions and conducting defect investigations to support equipment refurbishment and maintenance. The ideal candidate should have a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and preferably two years of experience in a relevant field. This role requires collaboration with stakeholders to enhance equipment reliability and availability, alongside hands-on experience in maintenance workshops.

Job description

The Hydraulics & Structural Engineer shall be responsible to perform engineering analytics, provide engineering solutions and perform defect investigations to support equipment refurbishment & maintenance projects. The candidate shall be required to independently conduct defect troubleshooting, failure analysis, engineering analysis and develop engineering solutions to the problems identified. The candidate shall also collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders on engineering and maintenance efforts and ensure high equipment reliability and availability.

Responsibilities
  • Lead in the identification and consolidation of engineering standards for the respective mechanical/electrical and electronics/hydraulic and structural systems/thermal systems.
  • Develop work instructions, test parameters, test jigs and test benches to enhance equipment repair and overhaul capabilities.
  • Lead in the conduct of engineering analytics for equipment failure and trending of defect data to seek engineering insights and identify areas for reliability and safety improvements.
  • Lead in the development of in-house capabilities to support the evolution from preventive to predictive maintenance.
  • Lead in the development of engineering solutions, propose relevant modifications and work with Ops and Maintenance team to implement and validate safety and effectiveness of the solutions.
  • Identify / develop / evaluate alternate parts, out-of-manual repair and modifications to support obsolescence management.
  • Lead in the conduct of defect investigation to identify root cause and follow‑up, including developing of fault tree analysis, FEMCA and conduct of forensic investigation.
  • Perform review of project design specifications to support refurbishment & maintenance projects to ensure adequate safety, reliability, maintainability and operability considerations.
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications & Work Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Electrical & Electronic Engineering/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Preferably with at least 2 years’ working experience in automotive, aerospace or heavy equipment environment.
  • Fresh graduates from local universities are welcome to apply.
Skills
  • Comfortable to work hands‑on in a maintenance workshops environment alongside other Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Technical Officers.
  • Adept with diagnostics and reliability engineering methods such as FMECA, Fault Tree analysis etc.
  • Possess basic understanding of hydraulic/electrical/mechanical systems for vehicular platforms.
  • Able to read and understand technical/ electrical drawings.
  • Equipped with Solidworks Software skills for 3D Modelling and Drafting.
  • Possess knowledge in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to present ideas, approach, and objectives clearly.
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities.
  • Able to work independently and as a team effectively adjusting oneself flexibly to different work situations.
  • Effective organizational and planning skills.
