Role Overview – HSSEQ (FSO/FPSO)

This role provides senior HSSEQ leadership across FPSO assets and offshore production units, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational risk control, and continuous improvement throughout the asset lifecycle. The position works closely with FPSO management teams, offshore leadership, and corporate functions to embed consistent HSSEQ standards across all operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with FPSO management, offshore leadership teams, and corporate stakeholders to deliver HSSEQ objectives across operating assets.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSSEQ frameworks aligned with international standards, flag state requirements, class rules, and offshore regulatory regimes.
  • Establish and oversee structured risk management processes for FPSO operations, including hazard identification, risk registers, bow-tie analysis, audits, and assurance activities.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report HSSEQ performance across FPSOs, providing meaningful insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and govern incident investigations related to offshore operations, asset integrity, process safety, and marine activities, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
  • Define and manage HSSEQ performance expectations for contractors, service providers, and offshore vendors, including audit programs and performance reviews.
  • Strengthen HSSEQ capability across FPSO crews and onshore teams through targeted competency frameworks, leadership engagement, and structured training programs.
  • Drive consistency and continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned across the FPSO fleet and embedding industry best practices.
  • Support regulatory inspections, class audits, client audits, and third-party verifications related to offshore production units.
  • Contribute to emergency preparedness, crisis management, and major incident response planning for FPSO operations.
Candidate Profile
  • Significant HSSEQ leadership experience within FPSO, offshore production, or offshore oil & gas operating environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of offshore regulatory frameworks, including flag state, class, coastal state, and international maritime and offshore safety requirements.
  • Proven experience implementing and managing integrated management systems aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 in an offshore context.
  • Recognised professional safety qualifications (e.g. WSH Officer, NEBOSH Diploma, Chartered IOSH, or equivalent).
  • Formal training in incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies relevant to offshore operations.
  • Experience leading audits and interfacing with regulators, clients, and classification societies.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and leadership skills with the ability to operate effectively across offshore and shore-based teams.
  • Strategic and operational mindset, capable of translating HSSEQ policies into practical offshore execution.
