Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Construction Machinery Mechanic Supervisor to lead a team of mechanics in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy construction equipment, including excavators, generators, and other heavy vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of hand‑on expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, as well as conducting engine overhauls. Responsibilities
- Supervision and Leadership: Lead and manage a team of construction machinery mechanics, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
Allocate tasks, set priorities, and ensure the team operates efficiently to meet maintenance schedules and repair deadlines.
- Mechanical and Electrical Troubleshooting: Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy construction equipment.
Offer technical expertise and guidance to the team to troubleshoot and rectify equipment malfunctions effectively.
- Engine Overhaul and Rebuild: Lead engine overhaul projects, including planning and executing complete engine disassembly, inspection, replacement of components, and reassembly according to manufacturer specifications.
Ensure the quality of engine rebuilds through meticulous attention to detail and adherence to proper torque settings and alignment.
- Parts Management and Procurement: Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely availability of genuine and compatible replacement parts for repairs and maintenance.
Monitor parts inventory, reordering when necessary, and maintaining accurate records of parts usage.
- Electrical System Expertise: Apply advanced electrical troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair complex electrical issues in heavy vehicles, generators, and construction machinery.
Lead the team in repairing wiring, switches, sensors, control systems, and other electrical components.
- Preventive Maintenance Oversight: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring regular inspections, lubrication, fluid changes, and replacements are carried out to prevent breakdowns.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment histories.
Generate reports detailing equipment conditions, repair trends, and upcoming service requirements.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines, promoting a culture of safety within the team and on the worksite.
Stay current with industry regulations and best practices related to equipment maintenance and safety.
- Continuous Learning and Development: Keep abreast of advancements in construction machinery technology, repair techniques, and electrical systems through ongoing training and professional development.
- On‑Site Support: Provide on‑site technical support during emergencies, breakdowns, or critical repair situations to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics preferred.
- Proven experience (3 years) as a Construction Machinery Mechanic, with a focus on repairing heavy vehicles such as excavators, generators, and conducting engine overhauls.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and experience with heavy vehicle electrical systems.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, equipment manuals, and technical resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and collaborate with a team.
