Head of Trade Finance and Structured Export Finance, APAC

Our client is a leading international bank and they are seeking a Managing Director to oversee and develop a portfolio of structured trade-related and working capital solutions across APAC, including India.

The role carries responsibility for origination, structuring, and execution of complex transactions, along with ownership of the full product lifecycle. Coverage spans a diverse client base including large corporates and institutional counterparties.

Job Description:

  • Lead the development and growth of structured trade-related and working capital activities across the Asia Pacific region, including India.
  • Build and maintain long-term, product-driven relationships with a select group of clients and strategic partners, while originating and structuring tailored transactions.
  • Define and execute a focused product roadmap aimed at delivering measurable value to customers.
  • Work closely with global coverage teams, product specialists, and relevant internal functions (including risk, legal, compliance, and control) to ensure effective coordination and alignment.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to regional teams, ensuring consistent execution across multiple locations.
  • Oversee financial performance, including revenue delivery, and implement initiatives to monitor and enhance product profitability.
  • Expand collaboration with institutional counterparties and ecosystem partners to broaden product capabilities.
  • Prepare and share relevant management information, insights, and reporting with senior stakeholders.

Requirement:

  • Extensive experience with 15+ years in product-led roles within banking or financial services, with a solid grasp of market trends and client requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related discipline; advanced academic qualifications in finance or banking are advantageous.
  • Proven exposure to complex, cross-border environments, working with both corporate and institutional counterparties.
  • Demonstrated expertise across working capital and trade-related solutions, including supply chain finance, receivables-based structures, trade instruments, and export-oriented financing.
  • Strong understanding of regional market conditions, customer expectations, and applicable regulatory, legal, and compliance frameworks at both local and international levels.
  • Established leadership experience, with a consistent record of guiding teams to achieve commercial objectives and advance product capabilities.
  • Highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate risk and support informed strategic decision‑making.
  • Client‑oriented and relationship‑driven, combining commercial insight with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
