Job description

The Head of Product Development (European MNC) is responsible for the management of product development projects for connectivity solutions with experience in cables and connectors for power, signal and data primarily for ASEAN, Australia/New Zealand, Taiwan and other APAC countries.

He/She understands cable and connector designs and cable connectivity requirements. The individual should also have experience with active components products for industry and building automation.

Leadership, Strategy & Innovation

• Coordinate with APAC product development teams for appropriate allocation of products/projects on new product specification and designs for different product applications and requirements.
• Contribution to the definition of product strategy and roadmap.
• Evaluation of new technologies and support in industrialization and market launch of new products.
• Acquisition of relevant intellectual property rights as well as monitoring and assessment of relevant patent specifications.
• Technical direction of development projects as well as selection of technologies, materials and suppliers within defined guidelines.
• Planning and approval of resources and budgets for development projects.
• Continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies.

Product Development

• Ensure timely, high-quality and cost-effective implementation of products/projects development in close collaboration with internal departments and external partners such as scientific and industrial partners.
• Develop capability of Exploration Center/Demos in APAC in coordination with product management and sales.
• Support the expansion of SG’s Laboratory with the mission of testing supplier products (control & data cables) as part of global laboratory network.
• Coordinate with global R&D and Engineering for developing patent strategy in APAC.
• Responsible for technical coordination with product owner/product management, procurement and quality adoption projects with supplier (APAC factories/vendors).
• Ensure compliance with quality, cost and timeline targets.

Documentation & Reporting

• Responsible for technical datasheets (TDS) for customised products (SPP) to support procurement.
• Preparation of technical documentation and decision papers for standard and special products.
