Job Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Institutional Banking Group Technology to lead the strategic development and delivery of cutting-edge technology solutions specifically tailored for our Institutional Banking Group. This role requires deep expertise in institutional banking products and processes, including corporate finance, treasury and markets, trade finance, and cash management. You will also bring a profound understanding of industry trends, regulatory frameworks, and digital transformation within the institutional banking sector.
You will lead a large engineering team and be responsible for modernizing technology stacks, promoting the adoption of new methodologies, and implementing cutting-edge solutions to enhance system performance, resilience, and competitiveness within the institutional banking landscape. As the Head of IBGT, you will drive the innovation and development of secure, scalable, and client-focused technology infrastructure that powers our institutional banking services, ensuring they are fully integrated, compliant, and aligned with our business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a large team of engineers across various locations, ensuring alignment with institutional banking business goals and driving engineering excellence in technology delivery.
- Oversee the engineering and production operations of core applications that support the full spectrum of Institutional Banking products regionally, including corporate lending, trade finance, cash management, and treasury services.
- Lead the design, development, and execution of robust and scalable technology solutions for institutional banking, including core banking platforms, payment systems, trade finance solutions, and treasury management systems. Ensure these platforms provide seamless, secure, and personalized client experiences across multiple channels.
- Drive technology behind sophisticated corporate banking platforms, ensuring features like real-time transaction processing, comprehensive reporting, client onboarding solutions, and integrated risk management. Enhance tools that provide institutional clients with actionable insights and efficient operations.
- Lead the development and integration of AI-powered and data analytics solutions to optimize institutional banking processes, enhance risk management, and provide predictive insights for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Champion the resilience, availability, and scalability of mission-critical systems supporting institutional banking operations. Ensure consistent and superior client experience by collaborating closely with business and technology teams.
- Ensure all technology solutions within the Institutional Banking Group comply with industry regulations (e.g., Basel III, AML, KYC) and internal policies. Drive technology solutions that protect client data, maintain compliance, and support robust risk management processes.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders, business leaders, and product teams across the Institutional Banking Group to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives and client needs. Present complex technical insights to executive leadership and non-technical teams to influence strategic decision-making.
- Lead efforts to enhance processes, systems, and team efficiency through the application of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and industry best practices. Advocate for a culture of continuous improvement across all engineering and operational teams within IBGT.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical leadership to engineers, advising on best practices, advanced reliability techniques, and new technologies relevant to the institutional banking domain.
Required Qualifications
- At least 20 years of experience in leading technology teams and managing large-scale, complex systems, specifically within the institutional banking or wholesale banking sector, Payments Systems, Cash Management Systems and Core Banking Systems.
- Proven track record in developing and managing technology platforms for institutional banking products (e.g., corporate lending, trade finance, cash management, treasury & markets).
- A solid track record of delivering highly stable, resilient systems, particularly for high-volume, mission-critical environments in financial services.
- Experience managing cloud-based environments (AWS, Cloud Foundry, or equivalent) is highly desired.
- Experience in managing high availability, high-scale, and performant systems for institutional clients.
- Strong knowledge of Core Java, cloud platforms (AWS, Cloud Foundry), distributed architectures, microservices, and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale transformation programs focused on production resilience, performance, and client experience within an institutional banking context.
- Strong leadership in building and managing high-performing technical teams globally or regionally.
- Proven experience with Agile methodologies and Test Driven Development (TDD).
- Familiarity with machine learning and advanced analytics applications in production systems for institutional banking is advantageous.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Regulatory Acumen: Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory frameworks pertinent to institutional banking (e.g., anti-money laundering, sanctions, prudential regulations) to ensure all technology solutions comply with current laws and standards.
- Digital Transformation Proficiency: Lead initiatives to modernize legacy systems, adopt new methodologies, and implement cutting-edge solutions that enhance system performance, resilience, and competitive advantage for institutional banking.
- Team Leadership: Manage and inspire a large engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high performance, with a focus on talent development and retention.
- Client-Centric Approach: Develop secure, scalable, and client-focused technology infrastructures that enhance the institutional customer experience and support business objectives, understanding the unique needs of corporate and institutional clients.
