Role Purpose
The Head of Department – Leisure Travel is responsible for leading and growing the company’s Leisure Travel business. This role focuses on business development, revenue growth, product strategy, and team leadership, while ensuring high service standards and smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Define and execute the short- and long-term strategy for the Leisure Travel business, aligned with the company’s overall goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Leisure Travel team, fostering a high-performance, customer-centric, and accountable culture.
- Set departmental KPIs, budgets, and revenue targets; monitor performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Identify and develop new revenue streams across leisure travel, group travel, wholesale offerings, and niche segments; oversee the design, pricing, and launch of travel products and packages aligned with evolving customer preferences.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with airlines, hotels, tour operators, cruise lines, and destination management companies to secure strategic collaborations and enhance product offerings.
- Lead contract negotiations and key supplier agreements to maximise margins, competitiveness, and long-term business value.
- Drive sales campaigns, promotions, and customer acquisition initiatives; monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to refine product strategy and positioning.
Operational Excellence & Governance
- Ensure efficient operational processes across booking, fulfilment, after-sales support, and issue resolution.
- Work closely with Finance, HR, IT, and Operations to ensure smooth end-to-end service delivery.
- Monitor departmental performance, budgets, and profitability.
Key Requirements
Experience
- 5 - 10 years of experience in the travel industry, with significant exposure to leisure travel operations and business development.
- Proven track record in a leadership role, managing teams and P&L responsibility.
- Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, product expansion, and strategic partnerships.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Business, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant industry certifications or professional qualifications are an advantage.
