About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic GeneralManager of MD Office to be part of the Management Team. This role iscritical in providing leadership, technical advisory, strategic projectoversight, and corporate support to ensure smooth and effective businessoperations.
You will lead a multi-functional team supportingsenior management, drive company-wide strategic initiatives, and act as a keyliaison between headquarters and local stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate assignment of duties and tasks
- Plan, implement, manage, and review the activities, procedures and processes inaccordance with the strategic project charter.
- To provide technical advice and support other internal or externalprojects/requests
- Translate and interpret HQ requests for implementation and execution.
- Provide guidance and coach the team to achieve targeted performance.
- Conduct regular check-ins with the team and provide feedback on performance.
- Conduct engagement activities and discuss the developmental needs of the team.
- Involve in discussions & meetings on cross-section and dept collaboration.
- Mediate and arbitrate when differences and conflict arise between sections anddepts
- Participate in management meetings and discussions on policy formulation.
- Lead, manage and role model change initiatives in the Company
- Coordinate assignment of duties and tasks
Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- At least 10 years of relevant working experience, including 5 year in a similar leadership role managing corporate functions
- Has working experience in managing a chemical manufacturing plant operation
- Strong mediation and negotiation skills to facilitate cross-section and department collaboration
- Familiar with Japanese work culture to support working with Japanese co-workers and Japan HQ
- Strong leadership and people management skills to lead and manage cross-sectional teams
- Able to make swift decisions, especially during urgent and emergency times
- Able to remain calm to manage and during a conflict
- Able to work under extreme pressure and guide the team to meet deadlines
- Problem-solving skills using industry-appropriate technical tools
- Proficient with MS Office
- Familiar with ISO Management Systems
- Good data analysis skills to drive decision making
- Excellent command of English and Japanese JLPT N1 as this role requires translating verbally and in writing for business meetings from Japanese to English and vice versa is required.
