Burford has created a Full Stack Developer position who will design, build, and maintain scalable, cloud-based applications. The ideal candidate combines strong Python and SQL expertise with experience in modern frontend frameworks and cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS acceptable). This role requires close collaboration with end-users, developers across regions, project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver robust, secure, and high-quality solutions.

The Full Stack Software Developer will work as part of the Core Services group at Burford and will be contributing on a variety of data and software projects, interacting with the firm’s wide range of evolving set of tools and platforms. The person will be responsible for producing the firm’s internal tools and platforms, collaborating with the Head of Software, the Head of Data Management, technical staff, business stakeholders, and vendors to design and execute solutions that are aligned with company goals and priorities. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, “can do” individual, willing to share his/her/their expertise with others, dig in deep and do whatever is needed to accomplish results.

The role will report to the Head of Software Engineering and will be based in the Singapore office.

Key Responsibilities

• Full Stack Development: Design and develop end-to-end web applications with responsive, intuitive interfaces and scalable backend services.
• Collaboration & Teamwork: Work effectively within a global development team, collaborating across time zones and functions. Partner with end-users and stakeholders to translate business needs into high-performing software solutions.
• Agile Delivery: Operate within an Agile Scrum framework, using Azure DevOps (ADO) or JIRA to manage tasks, estimate effort, track progress, and report updates during daily standups.
• Cloud & Middleware: Develop and deploy Python-based applications on Azure (preferred), leveraging cloud features such as Elastic Compute, Durable Functions, and Service Bus.
• Database Management: Design, optimize, and maintain Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
• API Development: Build secure, reliable, and fail‑safe RESTful APIs that ensure seamless data exchange and integration across systems.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Implement and maintain Docker‑based workflows and CI/CD pipelines using Terraform (preferred) or Ansible for consistent and efficient deployments.
• UI/UX Collaboration: Work with Figma or equivalent tools to deliver user-friendly and visually cohesive interfaces.
• Testing & Quality Assurance: Perform thorough unit testing on all deliverables, ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability before release.
• Security & Documentation: Apply strong security practices to protect data and maintain clear, well‑organized documentation for all code and system components.
