In this hands-on role, the Finance Assistant Manager / Manager will be a key partner to the Head of Finance, providing expert financial guidance and support to the Board, Senior Management and other departments for a variety of critical projects. The candidate will need to be adept at managing project-based financial tasks as well as overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of a dormitory business.
Primary responsibilities
- Budgetary & Cash Flow Planning – Work with the project team to manage project budgets and forecasting cash flows to ensure the company’s financial stability throughout the project.
- Cost Controllership & Tracking – Monitor project spend against budget, identify variances, advise the project team to keep costs in check.
- Fixed Assets Management – Manage the tracking and reconciliation of fixed assets related to the projects and the company.
- Process Implementation – Design and implement new financial processes and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Administrative Support – Provide comprehensive administrative support for project-related financial matters, including documentation and reporting.
- Policies & Controls – Collaborate on the development and implementation of new financial policies and internal controls to strengthen overall financial governance.
Secondary responsibilities
- Full set accounts management – Provide guidance to the team for month-end closing process and ensure all month-end journals, AP and AR sections are closed promptly.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for management reporting.
- Prepare and review balance sheet schedules.
- Liaise with external/internal auditors and tax agents as required.
- Handle compliance with filing requirements, audits, GST and income tax filings.
- Identify and mitigate any financial and compliance risk.
- Work closely with other departments to provide financial guidance and support decision-making.
- Collaborate with the executive team to achieve overall business objectives.
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance related field, with experience in full set accounting and audit preferred
- Solid foundation in basic accounting principles
- Strong in data analysis / data management, with keen attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (e.g. pivot tables, financial modelling)
- Proficiency with MS Word and MS Powerpoint
- Working knowledge of Xero accounting software preferred
