Bank of China Singapore Branch (BOCSG) is looking to hire an Executive Director / Director for its Investment Banking Advisory (IBA) team, under the branch’s Investment Banking Division (IBD). In this job you will play an active advisory role in the origination, structuring and execution of event driven, transformational, complex and multi-product financing solutions as part of the Investment Banking Division which comprises of M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets and Capital Advisory. The Division provides strategic advice across the capital structure on fundraising options to BOCSG’s highest tier of Singapore, SEA, and Greater China clients across all sectors, working alongside with relationship managers and the various product teams to structure, originate and execute investment banking transactions.

IBA captures the most strategic, complex and multi-product opportunities for our corporate or FI clients, often transformational in nature as part of an event driven M&A, large investment, restructuring or sector thematic occurrence (ie Covid, Trade‑war, etc). Transformational situations including multi‑product merger and acquisitions, major refinancing, balance sheet restructurings, take‑over defence situations, pre‑IPO and post‑IPO financings and strategic capital investments. These types of dynamic situations often require a swift response and a strong sense for the inherent sensitivities of all stakeholders.

Job description
  • Drive origination and execution of M&A, Capital Markets and Debt Advisory covering Leveraged/ Structured Financing and Private Capital / Debt transactions.
  • Advise across the capital structure for BOCSG’s clients’ complex and large‑scale fundraisings, through partnering Corporate Banking RMs and Product teams.
  • As part of the advisory based nature of the role, contribute to a wide range of financing and hedging solutions.
  • Leading thought‑pieces (pitchbooks) for event driven ideas generated by IBA, comprising of strategic advisory across M&A, equity, Capital Markets, integrated debt (bonds, loans), and hedging solutions.
  • Oversee drafting of term sheets, offering / info memos, and prospectuses as well as the preparation and coordination of internal approval documents and credit memos.
  • Maintaining active pipeline discussions and collaboration with Corporate Banking, Structured Finance, Syndications, Financial Markets, Transaction Banking, Private Banking, Risk Management, etc.
  • Maintain client contact in both the marketing and execution phases of transactions.
  • Oversee the building of complex financial models and quality stamping/ assuming responsibility for different output generated by junior staff (i.e. presentations, credit proposals).
  • Coaching, training and development of junior team members

Part of Singapore based IBA team that is an integral part of the broader IBD team, that includes Debt Capital Market Centre.

Current IBA platform is strong, providing an excellent platform for further growth and innovation. IBA acts product neutral coordinator in multi‑product transactions, in close cooperation with the relationship manager and various product specialists.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience

  • More than 15 years of experience in Investment Banking, Sector Coverage, Strategic Advisory, Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Structured/ Leverage Finance.
  • Profound understanding and in-depth knowledge of one (or preferably) more of the following products, M&A, Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Debt Advisory.
  • Fluent in English with a strong preference for fluency in Mandarin as the role requires the candidate to liaise with clients base in Greater China.
  • You understand what is needed in the role: you have a proven track record in structuring, negotiating and execution of transformational and/or complex (international) transactions and/or optimizing balance sheet and finance structures as well as providing strategic advice to clients.
  • Strong business development skills with broad market knowledge, client network and presence.
  • Education: university degree preferably in banking & finance, accounting economics or equivalent.
