Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Delivery
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons in alignment with approved Schemes of Work (SOW) and Programme Outlines.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, including ESL and international learners.
- Integrate reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills across lesson activities.
- Ensure lessons are aligned with Cambridge/IGCSE/GCE/AEIS assessment standards.
- Incorporate technology-enhanced learning and interactive pedagogy where appropriate.
Assessment and Academic Quality Assurance
- Prepare, set, and mark assignments, tests, and examination papers according to school guidelines.
- Maintain accurate student records, marks, and progress reports in compliance with Academic & Examination Board (AEB) requirements.
- Participate in Setter/Vetter exercises and maintain consistency in marking standards.
- Support continual improvement of teaching materials, SOW, and lesson resources.
Pastoral and Student Support
- Monitor student attendance, behaviour, and academic performance, and provide timely feedback.
- Offer academic mentoring, remedial lessons, and enrichment support where necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the Student Services and Pastoral Care teams to address individual learning or welfare concerns.
Professional Conduct and Institutional Engagement
- Uphold BCI’s values, vision, and policies under the EduTrust and Academic Governance framework.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and institutional events.
- Contribute to co-curricular and community activities.
- Maintain professionalism in communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in English Language, English Literature, Linguistics, Education, or equivalent.
- Ex NIE teachers, Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Diploma in TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
- Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
Preferred Experience
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in English language or literature at secondary or post-secondary level.
- Experience teaching within Cambridge (IGCSE / AS & A Level) or AEIS / GCE O/A-Level frameworks.
- Familiarity with Singapore’s private education regulatory environment (EduTrust, AEB, SEAB).
- Experience working with international students of mixed linguistic backgrounds.
