About the role

Toagosei Singapore Pte Ltd, a renowned chemical company, is seeking a talented Engineer (Mechanical) to join our team on Jurong Island. This full-time role supports the strategic objectives of our Mechanical Engineering operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our manufacturing facilities.

What you'll be doing
  • Provide maintenance and technical support to the whole plant’s mechanical equipment for smooth and continuous operation.

  • Plan, control and coordinate mechanical maintenance work on a daily basis and during Shut Down Maintenance (SDM) periods for the whole plant.

  • Improve plant’s equipment reliability through the establishment of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and by setting up work plans for maintenance schedules.

  • Ensure proper documentation of related documents and maintenance work carried out by the Mechanical section.

  • Plan, assign, coordinate and schedule work orders and other related duties.

  • Prepare weekly/monthly work schedules and issue work instructions to in-house contractors.

  • Check daily work plans submitted by in-house contractors.

  • Perform cost evaluation of quotations for maintenance of mechanical service, materials and parts.

  • Ensure a high level of management and maintenance of inventory items such as equipment, materials and spare parts.

  • Check and identify the materials and spare parts required for relevant works/projects.

  • Adhere to the current procurement procedure and ensure proper documentation on movement of inventory items such as equipment, materials and spare parts.

  • Review and encourage the correct usage of substitutes for instruments and equipment.

  • Analyze equipment’s mechanical data collected through maintenance to ensure operation productivity and effectiveness is improved and maintained.

  • Plan and control the plant’s relevant budget and costs.

  • Participate in and contribute to reporting, feedback and ideas during monthly and SDM meetings.

  • Participate in and conduct in-house trainings to shift members.

  • Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Company from time to time, including coverage of assigned duties when colleagues are out of the office.

What we're looking for
  • A Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

  • Minimum 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within the chemical or manufacturing industry.

  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and operational manuals

  • Good knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 will be an advantage

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels

  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality

  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and best practices
