Job Summary
Responsible for end-to-end post-fixture management / operations of all Dry Bulk TC / VC vessels from fixture stage through voyage completion, ensuring operational excellence and compliance with contract terms.
Responsibilities
- Manage all operational activities for assigned vessels, ensuring smooth execution from pre-fixture to voyage completion
- Ensure compliance with agreed contract terms and conditions throughout the voyage lifecycle
- Verify voyage profit and loss accuracy, providing precise input for payments due to Owners and receivables from Charterers
- Issue clear and timely voyage instructions to vessel masters in accordance with governing charter parties
- Coordinate appointment of agents, weather routing services, bunker suppliers, and surveyors to support vessel operations
- Review and validate all shipping documents including pre-stowage plans, Bills of Lading, and Letters of Indemnity
- Handle claims management by collaborating with legal teams, P&I clubs, and lawyers to resolve disputes effectively
- Process freight invoices, demurrage/despatch, laytime hire payments, and port disbursements accurately and promptly
- Maintain proactive communication with vessel masters, owners, charterers, brokers, and port agents to ensure operational alignment
- Monitor vessel movements and performance, reporting to relevant parties and managing disputes related to cargo damage, laytime, or underperformance
- Negotiate settlements and resolve operational issues based on charterparty terms to protect company interests
Preferred Competencies and Qualifications
- Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Maritime Studies or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience in dry-bulk vessel operations or chartering
- Sailing Experience on dry bulk vessels is an advantage
- Proven ability to independently manage voyage arrangements and comprehend maritime terminology
- Prior experience in dry bulk vessel operations is a distinct advantage
- Experience managing both Time Charter (TC) and Voyage Charter (VC) contracts
- Strong proficiency in vessel operations management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills applied in maritime operational contexts
- Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills to resolve operational challenges
- Effective team collaboration skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for operational reporting and communication
