The Director, Sales & Solutions Engineering is responsible for driving the successful development and execution of technical solutions programs. This key member of the sales solutions and engineering organization will demonstrate a proven track record in delivering sophisticated, measurable technical and engineering solutions.
A strategic problem‑solver with strong tactical execution capabilities, the Director should also possess excellent communication and presentation skills, enabling effective collaboration across Vantage’s diverse teams. Experience in mission‑critical environments supporting hyperscale operators, colocation customers, telecommunications and interconnection services, as well as AI and cloud digital infrastructure, is highly preferred.
Duties
- Supporting the Sales and Solutions Engineering with presales opportunities, activities and initiatives, particularly with the hyperscale cloud/AI customers to engineer solutions that support a combination of air-cooled and liquid cooled, high power density GPU racks
- Engages in detailed network (including high density fiber cabling), power, cooling, and space assessments of customer's planned digital infrastructure roadmaps to ensure engineered solutions are commercially and operationally viable.
- Actively participate and coordinate RFP process across all Vantage stakeholders
- Prepares and delivers in-depth site and facilities tours for existing customers and prospects
- Design proposal templates incorporating Vantage’s latest engineered solutions reference diagrams and architectures and APAC site profiles
- Develop all technical proposals for the sales team, for both base build and client fit outs (tenant improvement works), ensuring consistency in engineered solutions across the entire “engineered solutions lifecycle”
- Work with client requirements regarding capacity needs and timing; coordinate those requirements with the capabilities of VDC
- Maintain a current understanding of the build schedule of all developments across Vantage APAC sites by collaborating with site development, site selection and other key functions in Vantage APAC.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to Solutions Engineering by building and growing the role to meet the needs of VDC and its customers
- Accountable for driving opportunities by supporting Sales teams by growing customer relationships across the technical & commercial stakeholders.
- Articulates and conducts in-depth product feature benefit discussions as they relate to Vantage data center offerings.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, or equivalent work experience is required.
- In-depth understanding in critical MEP-F data center infrastructure, good working knowledge of telecoms services providers and on-campus fiber routing and planning, and/or power/water/utilities for site planning will be strongly preferred.
- Excellent PowerPoint presentation skills and a feeling for aesthetics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with and present information to the team and the customers (especially in remote team set-up).
