Job description

STACK is seeking a motivated Director of Commissioning professional to support our development of Data Center projects in Malaysia and Japan. The Director of Commissioning will work as part of the STACK Data Centre APAC team and be responsible for the management of commissioning of mission‑critical equipment, start‑up, and testing, as well as managing our staff and CxA consultants for all our projects in Malaysia and Japan.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for the execution of commissioning to meet our standards.
  • Manage projects and Cx teams in progress and future projects as directed. This will include all commissioning related design, contractual and financial aspects in consultation with STACK management.
  • Look for opportunities to streamline the commissioning process without compromising on the quality required.
  • Participate in the procurement of CxA Consultants for our projects including managing this process.
  • Creation of CxA RFP proposal documentation as instructed.
  • Management of STACK commissioning staff in Malaysia and Japan.
  • Overall management of CxA Consultants with your STACK Cx staff.
  • Review of CVs and recommend employment of new staff.
  • Manage training of staff in the execution of their duties. Ensuring commissioning delivery is correct.
  • Conduct regular reviews of STACK staff at minimum every quarter.
  • Create operational standards and practices for staff to follow in line with STACK requirements.
  • Conduct design review process with our Engineering team.
  • Provide support with the review of the Cx schedule with GC, CxA and STACK internal stakeholders. Comment on the schedule where required.
  • Provide support for the development and review of equipment and system test scripts as needed.
  • Provide support for the development, review and approval of Cx L4 and 5 test scripts.
  • Review all reports issued by our CxA in conjunction with our site teams. These include all design reviews, Load‑bank plans, IST intent, IST method statement, IST interim and final reports ETC.
  • Conduct planning for upcoming projects on the commissioning strategy and how this is to be implemented. Resources and Cx equipment to be outlined in any strategy creation.
  • Participate in the procurement of LLE equipment, skid and containerized solutions for our projects alongside our procurement team.
  • LLE Vendor coordination and management during procurement, including technical analysis of the commissioning scope.
  • Identify scope gaps in procurement of LLE equipment, skid and containerized product with Procurement/Delivery team.
  • Participate in our off‑site skid integration.
  • Participate in our off‑site containerized solutions.
  • Create off‑site commissioning procedures as required.
  • Endeavor to seek prefabricated solutions for electrical/mechanical systems to encourage building and commissioning with speed for our projects.
  • Management and attendance to factory witness testing as required in consultation with VP of commissioning.
  • Ligase with the Operations team to gain a good understanding of their requirements at handover.
  • Support design specification review, manufacturer submittals, single line drawing sets, and project schedule documentation.
  • Look to improve Cx Alloy system for STACK use.
  • Manage the STACK commissioning equipment that includes load‑banks, load‑bank cabling, PQA and data loggers in Japan.
  • When required look to procure additional commissioning equipment per the projects at hand.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed by all participants on the commissioning team at the customer site.
  • Engage with STACK customers to ensure positive experience, goal achievement, schedule adherence and questions answered.
  • Manage the STACK customer CxV Consultant with your STACK Cx staff as needed.
  • Attend PCG meetings as required.
  • Provide support to other regional projects as instructed.
Requirements
  • BS in a mechanical/electrical or engineering field or equivalent years’ experience.
  • 2 years leadership responsible for commissioning execution by region or leading a Cx business. Responsibility for financial performance of projects.
  • 5 years or more of experience in performing commissioning in a regulated industry, or facility engineering / facility management.
  • Experience in 1 or more of the following:
  1. Data Centre Construction / Commissioning.
  2. Data Centre Operations.
  • Experience in use of Automated Commissioning Management System (ACxMS) systems for the management of commissioning.
  • Experience working in Malaysia and Japan.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP designs and schematics.
  • Knowledge of mission critical design concepts.
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, and Project software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Travel may be required (0‑40%)
