Key responsibilities
  • Building and retaining networks to source Private Debt investment opportunities;
  • Deal origination, deal structuring, due diligence and credit analysis of investments;
  • Negotiation of terms sheet and conversion to long form documentation;
  • Preparation credit paper and presentation to Investment Committee;
  • Ongoing monitoring, reporting and maintenance of completed transactions;
  • Market/Sector research to support investment proposals and marketing to clients;
  • Assist with mentoring and developing the credit analyst team;
  • Contribute to strategy development for DI funds and products; and
  • Assist with DI business development and client relationship activities as required.
Experience
  • Minimum 10+ years covering the following:
  • Significant experience in originating and structuring, creating and converting private debtor alternative debt or leveraged finance investment opportunities with a focus on higher yielding assets
  • Significant experience in credit investing/corporate lending/leveraged finance/property finance to private companies or borrowing structures that may involve substantial negotiation of commercial terms and conditions
  • Ability to convert generated leads (deal screening) to successfully approved, executed and closed investments in accordance with investment strategy requirement
  • Significant banking, credit analysis, debt or equity advisory, lending and/or credit rating agency experience; and
  • Displayed leadership and relationship management skills
  • Time management skills and ability to cope with competing priorities.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, commerce, economics, finance, law or related field
  • May have post-graduate qualifications
  • May include SIA / CFA qualifications
Business knowledge
  • Understanding of financing techniques, products, markets, instruments andintermediaries
  • Detailed understanding of private debt investment structures
  • Detailed understanding of financing documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of debt capital markets
  • Familiarity with property financing techniques including: Senior/Stretch lending, Junior &Development finance, Speculative and Mezzanine Development financing
Technical knowledge
  • Sound financial knowledge
  • Analytical ability, strong communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Sound business judgement and acumen
  • Highly developed Excel skills – financial modelling skills – building model / stress testing
  • Strong understanding of financial accounts and legal entity structures
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate Borrower’s financial accounts and business plans anddevelopment plans and extract information to substantiate investment case
  • Proven experience in financing and security documentation
