A government regulatory body in Singapore is seeking an officer for its Corporate Finance Division. This role involves supervising corporate finance firms, regulating fund raisings, and promoting fair capital markets. Candidates should have a relevant degree, strong analytical skills, and good communication abilities. This 1-year contract position offers insights into capital market issues and direct interaction with various stakeholders. The Corporate Finance & Disclosures Department regulates: (i) the offering of securities, business trusts and collective investment schemes (including REITs); (ii) the conduct of takeover and merger transactions; (iii) the disclosure of interests in securities of listed entities; and (iv) SGX as a listed entity.
It also supervises corporate financial advisers and credit rating agencies, and coordinates the Capital Markets Group's regulatory approach to corporate and sustainability disclosures.
As an officer in the Corporate Finance Division, you will play an important role in the supervision of corporate finance firms, including the formulation of supervisory plans and practices to promote high standards of business conduct. You may also be involved in regulating corporate fund raisings and work on initiatives to promote fair, orderly and transparent capital markets. Through frequent engagements with industry practitioners in the course of your work, you will gain good insight into capital market issues as well as securities regulation and supervision.
You will be working in a fast-paced environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and needs of stakeholders, as well as the agility to respond to changes and developments.
Relevant experience or degree in Business, Accountancy, Law or Financial Economics preferred
Strong analytical skills and an ability to work at both conceptual and operational levels
Ability to work well independently as well as in a team
Natural inquisitiveness and ability to be creative in problem-solving
Good written and verbal communication skills. You will be expected to interface with internal and external stakeholders directly, including other government agencies, foreign regulators, financial intermediaries and industry practitioners
