The demand planning and projection department manages the SMTR Sales and Operations cycle monthly. It provides a clear understanding of past business performance and its impact on future forecasts.
The role is crucial in ensuring the business has a strong understanding and ability to answer the four questions of S&OP: What happened, Why did it happen, What does that mean for the future and What are we going to do about it?
An accurate, insight based forecast is expected. It should be built from understanding past performance and explaining how it affects future planning assumptions.
