Responsibilities

About the Team: As a Data Scientist in TikTok's Trust and Safety team, you will drive data‑inspired decisions and form roadmaps to ensure that TikTok Video remains a safe, trustworthy, and risk‑free environment. By implementing your domain knowledge, you will help diagnose, triage, and treat large‑scale safety issues.

You will scope out projects, use ground‑truth data to inform strategies, and influence product design. You will partner with a variety of stakeholders across the product, operations, policy, algorithm, and engineering teams.

  • Drive business development both short‑term and long‑term through in‑depth business analysis, industry studies, and the study of market trends.
  • Develop comprehensive metrics and a quantitative measurement structure through statistical modeling methods to develop an understanding of video risk levels and creator experience.
  • Utilise a comprehensive understanding of content safety and creator experience, and develop strategies through various data analyses.
  • Refine and upgrade the content safety system for globalised products, incorporating statistical modelling methods to construct an efficient decision‑making system that quantifies business trade‑offs.
  • Collaborate closely with the global Trust and Safety team, proactively providing insights and recommendations, driving the implementation of data analysis value, and overseeing the macro direction of the business.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in mathematics, computer science, statistics, engineering, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in data science or quantitative analysis.
  • Proficient in data analysis and statistical analysis tools such as SQL and Python.
  • Experience in quantifying complex problems using A/B testing and other statistical skills, such as causation/correlation, decision trees, regression analysis, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional and global teams.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.
