Job description

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data and Portfolio Optimization Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of data analytics, portfolio management, market analysis and optimization techniques to assess portfolio health, identify trends and undertake predictive risk assessments. This role requires proficiency in leveraging data to inform decision-making, develop models, and implement strategies that align with the company’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will support and work closely with Portfolio Management Team in delivering

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis
    • Support with the reform and reclassification of A&H product data to enable portfolio automation and modernization.

    • Create and embed a product set up governance process.

    • Gather, clean, and analyze new datasets with the aim of identifying automation opportunities.

    • Utilize statistical methods and tools to conduct exploratory data analysis and hypothesis testing.

  • Development and management of our Accident and Health portfolio by analyzing portfolio health, identifying trends and recommending solutions.

  • Monitor and evaluate portfolio performance against benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Development and implement optimization techniques for underwriting, claims processing, and pricing models to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Support the development of advanced analytical tools and dashboards for real-time performance tracking.

  • Reporting and Documentation
    • Prepare comprehensive reports and visualizations to present findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders.

    • Document models, processes, and methodologies for compliance and future reference.

  • Work closely with portfolio managers, product development, actuaries, underwriting, financial analysts, and other team members to integrate data-driven insights into strategic initiatives.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects to enhance data quality and optimize workflows across the organization.

  • Stay abreast of developments in portfolio management techniques and data analytics tools.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in data management and analysis.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance optimization, data analysis, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL and familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.

  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with portfolio management software (e.g., Bloomberg, Morningstar) and statistical analysis tools (e.g., SAS, SPSS).

  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques as they apply to underwriting analysis.

  • Background in quantitative finance or econometrics is a plus.
