Mokara is looking for a dedicatedFull-Time Competitive Gymnastics Coachwho is passionate about helping young athletes grow through disciplined training, positive coaching, and a healthy love of sport. Schedule & commitment
Responsibilities
- Lead competitive training sessions for assigned groups and levels, aligned with Mokara’s core values, technical standards, training systems, and seasonal goals.
- Teach strong fundamentals and progressions across events (Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor, Trampoline, Artistry) with an emphasis on safe development, consistency, and quality of execution.
- Create a positive, structured training environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and motivated.
- Provide clear corrections and measurable goals for athletes, using detail-oriented coaching and consistent standards.
- Support routine construction and competitive readiness, including preparation for evaluations, mock meets, and competitions.
- Maintain athlete wellbeing as a priority which includes balancing performance goals with sustainable development and appropriate training loads.
- Where applicable, contribute to season planning and athlete pacing (training focus, readiness timelines, and meet preparation).
Safety & gym standards
- Maintain a safe training environment through proper equipment use, risk-aware progressions, and strong supervision.
- Spotting isnot required, butpreferred; coaches must be willing to learn and improve spotting skills over time.
- Contribute to a clean, organized, professional gym environment and uphold safety protocols consistently.
- Support athlete health best practices where appropriate (good warm-ups, smart progressions, basics-first philosophy, injury-awareness).
Collaborate & contribute
- Work closely with the coaching team to align athletes’ plans, expectations, and event progressions.
- Participate in team meetings, training discussions, and collaborative problem-solving to support the needs of the full program.
- Contribute to a culture of professionalism, humility, and shared standards across all coaches and squads.
- Engage in ongoing professional development (mentorship, shared video review, internal workshops, and coaching education opportunities).
- Support program events such as competitions, showcases, testing/evaluations, camps, clinics, and team initiatives as needed.
Communicate with athletes & families
- Communicate clearly and professionally with athletes and parents regarding goals, progress, training focus, and key updates.
- Provide developmentally appropriate feedback that is honest, constructive, and motivating.
- Partner with program leadership to ensure communication is consistent, aligned, and athlete-centered.
Requirements
- Prior experience coaching gymnastics (required); competitive program experience strongly preferred.
- Genuine enjoyment of working with children and helping them grow athletically and personally.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in shaping technique, execution quality, and consistent standards.
- Team-first mindset: collaborative, coachable, and ego-free.
- Ability to communicate professionally in English (spoken and written).
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be able to provide at least two references from former employers.
