A reputable Singapore shipyard is seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee cost estimation and tender activities. The successful candidate will prepare detailed cost estimates and collaborate with several teams to ensure accurate project scopes. Essential qualifications include relevant engineering degree and experience in shipyard estimation. This role offers a pivotal involvement in achieving both operational feasibility and commercial success.

Qualifications

  • Experience in shipyard estimation for newbuilding, repair or conversion.
  • Experience in commercial and/or estimator capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labour, materials, equipment and subcontracting.
  • Take part in commercial activities and marketing company's solutions.
  • Review project specifications, drawings and client requirements.
  • Develop and submit tenders or quotations.
  • Coordinate closely with procurement, engineering and production teams.
  • Participate in tender meetings, site visits and client discussions.
  • Maintain an updated database of rates and pricing information.
  • Support cost control efforts.

Roles & Responsibilities

We are partnering with a reputable Singapore shipyard. They are looking to hire a Commercial Manager who will play a key role in cost estimation, tender activities and developing accurate costing as well as competitive quotations that support both commercial success and operational feasibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labour, materials, equipment and subcontracting for repair, conversion and newbuilding projects
  • Take part in commercial activities and marketing company's solutions in the market
  • Review project specifications, drawings and client requirements to define accurate scope of work
  • Develop and submit tenders or quotations in response to client inquiries and bidding opportunities
  • Coordinate closely with procurement, engineering and production teams to verify pricing inputs and delivery schedules
  • Participate in tender meetings, site visits and client discussions when required
  • Maintain an updated database of rates and pricing information and provide inputs for cost analysis and project reviews
  • Support cost control efforts and contribute to strategies that improve profit margins and estimation accuracy
Requirements
  • Experience in shipyard estimation for newbuilding, repair or conversion or in similar capacity
  • Experience in commercial and / or estimator capacity
  • Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
