Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinic Nurse / Nurse Surgical Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role offers the opportunity to work in both outpatient clinic settings and, where credentialed and trained, assist in surgical procedures under direct supervision of the doctor or surgeon.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality patient care while supporting clinical, surgical, and administrative operations.

Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care
  • Conduct initial patient assessments, including medical history and current health concerns.
  • Dispense medications and treatments as prescribed by the doctor.
  • Document consultation notes, treatment plans, and patient progress accurately and confidentially.
  • Provide compassionate care, reassurance, and emotional support to patients and families.
2. Clinical Operations
  • Prepare and maintain examination and procedure rooms.
  • Ensure medical equipment is cleaned, sterilised, and ready for use.
  • Assist doctors during consultations, examinations, minor procedures, and treatments.
  • Monitor and manage medical supplies and medication inventory.
3. Patient Education & Communication
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, post-procedure care, and recovery expectations.
  • Provide guidance on health maintenance, lifestyle modifications, and disease prevention.
  • Respond to patient enquiries professionally, in person or via phone/digital platforms.
4. Administrative Support
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient records accurately.
  • Assist with insurance documentation and billing coordination.
  • Handle patient feedback and complaints with empathy and professionalism, in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Active participation in development of Policy and Standard Operating Procedures for the clinic
5. Ward Rounds & Inpatient Support
  • Support doctors during ward rounds by reviewing patient records and investigations.
  • Assist with inpatient examinations and procedures.
  • Document doctors’ instructions and communicate care plans clearly to ward staff, patients, and families.
6. Surgical Assistance
Pre-Operative
  • Assist with pre-operative assessments, consent verification, and preparation of investigations.
  • Prepare imaging and relevant documentation for surgery.
  • Perform approved pre-operative procedures (e.g. urinary catheter insertion)
Intra-Operative
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by handling instruments, providing exposure, suturing, and applying dressings where permitted.
  • Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout surgery.
  • Support the surgical team in managing intra-operative requirements under direct supervision.
Post-Operative
  • Assist with patient transfer to recovery areas.
  • Support post-operative care, including dressings, drains, and equipment.
  • Communicate post-operative instructions to patients and recovery staff.
7. Teamwork & Care Coordination
  • Work closely with doctors, specialists, physiotherapists, anesthesiologists, and nursing colleagues.
  • Coordinate referrals, admissions, investigations, and follow-up care.
8. Emergency Support
  • Provide first aid and emergency nursing care in urgent situations until further medical assistance is available.
9. Professional Development
  • Maintain nursing competency through continuous learning and skills development.
  • Comply with all professional nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and clinic policies.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with valid practising certificate.
  • Clinical experience in outpatient, ward, or surgical settings preferred.
  • Surgical assistance experience is an advantage (training can be provided).
  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
