Position Summary
The Chief Embryologist is responsible for overseeing all IVF laboratory activities and ensuring that the lab meets the highest standards of operation. This role involves managing the lab’s day-to-day functions, coordinating with clinical teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The Chief Embryologist will directly report to the Scientific Director and play a key role in driving innovation and success in IVF treatments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To be in charge in all aspects of the IVF laboratories including lab staff, daily operations, air quality, maintenance, cleanliness, sterility, and the indenting, purchasing, and keeping stock of hardware, consumables, and frozen gametes/ embryos.
- To oversee all IVF related procedures such as (but not limited to) semen analyses, sperm preparation, selection and culture of oocytes and embryos, freeze/thaw embryos, ICSI and PGT procedures.
- To handle all IVF related procedures when required.
- To keep abreast with Reproductive Technologies and Techniques. This includes the reading of journals and participation at conferences, some of which will be sponsored.
- To be totally committed to produce good fertilization and pregnancy rates.
- To ensure all lab’s KPIs (fertilization rate, degeneration rate, blastulation rate, utilization rate, CPR, IR, miscarriage rate, multiple pregnancy rate, gamete/embryo post-thaw survival rate, failed amplification rate) are maintained at least at competent levels or exceed benchmark levels.
- To provide training to all Trainee Embryologists and Geneticists.
- To carry out other duties as determined from time to time.
Job Specifications
- Must meet the MOH requirements for the Chief Embryologist post.
- Possess Degree/ Master’s in Biotechnology/ Biomedical Sciences/ Clinical Embryology or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant IVF Lab experience.
- Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others.
- Able to exercise discretion in handling confidential matters.
- Display professional attitude towards colleagues and others.
- PC Literate. (Microsoft Office applications, email, internet, etc.).
