Job Description

  • Industry/ Organization Type: Waste Management
  • Position Title: Chemical Engineer (Material Planning)
  • Working Location: Tuas (Company transport provided)
  • Working Hours: 5 days (Mon - Fri, 8.00am - 5.00pm)
  • Salary Package: Basic salary up to $3,800 + AWS + Variable Bonus
  • Duration: Permanent Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage repacking, containment, ICW operations, and maintenance activities
  • Monitor the safe process flow and backlog levels of TIW waste
  • Ensure staff are trained according to the On-the-Job Training program and follow safe work procedures and SOPs
  • Coordinate with operations, sales, and customer service teams to maintain high service quality
  • Track containment purchase budgets and promote recycling of used containment to reduce costs
  • Perform daily inspections of operations, check plant 5S and TPM activities, and monitor safety, equipment, and machinery
  • Lead daily safety toolbox meetings and ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is adequate for all staff
  • Review existing procedures and workflows to improve efficiency and throughput
  • Implement continuous improvement and modification plans for optimal operations
  • Collaborate with lab chemists to evaluate and develop new treatment methods and procedures for new or unknown wastes, and report on operation costs
  • Ensure compliance with EHS standards and support continual improvement of ISO 45001
  • Prepare and analyze daily and monthly operational records and reports, address any issues, and follow up with relevant departments
  • Compile annual operation and maintenance budgets for approval and monitor expenditures
  • Work with operations and engineering teams to develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
  • Conduct regular training for staff on safe waste handling, MSDS, PPE, and risk assessment
  • Activate the emergency response team and respond to spills or fire incidents as needed; work with the EHS department to ensure proper emergency preparedness and conduct regular drills
