Job description

This is an early career management track role similar to a management trainee position with a frontier investment bio fund that requires interest and capabilities to work in a highly entrepreneurial environment, with top‑notch operational excellence.

Please Read This Carefully: This is not a personal assistant role. This is not a finance, investment, or strategy‑only role. This is not a role for people seeking polish over substance. This is a high‑responsibility, execution‑heavy role at an early‑stage, mission‑driven organization operating in frontier science and long‑horizon innovation.

Most of the work is real, messy, operational, and unglamorous — by design. If you are energized by ownership, precision, and learning through doing, keep reading. If you are looking for prestige, clear playbooks, or clean job boundaries, this role is likely not for you.

About the Organization

Our client is a purpose‑driven organization headquartered in Singapore, focused on supporting long‑term, frontier initiatives in areas such as advanced biology, biotechnology, and related infrastructure.

Many of the domains we work in:

  • Are scientifically complex
  • Have unclear short‑term commercial outcomes
  • Are overlooked by mainstream capital
  • Require patience, rigor, and real execution

Our work spans operations, research support, coordination, infrastructure setup, and ecosystem‑building, not just ideas or analysis.

The Role

This is an early founder’s office/CEO office associate/management trainee type of role, with heavy emphasis on operational support and execution.

You will work closely with the core team to ensure that things actually get done — correctly, on time, and with accountability.

Personal assistant–type tasks are not the focus of this role. However, company‑level “dirty work” is unavoidable and expected. This role is designed for someone who is:

  • Early in their career, or
  • At a first inflection point, and
  • Intentionally seeking steep responsibility and long‑term growth

Long term, this role is intended to grow into a leadership position, but only after sustained hands‑on execution.

What You Will Do

This is not a theoretical role. Examples of work include:

  • Owning real‑world execution tasks end‑to‑end (e.g. office setup, vendor coordination, construction or renovation execution, logistics, documentation, compliance)
  • Turning vague objectives into clear steps, timelines, budgets, and risk assessments
  • Working with external parties (contractors, service providers, institutions) and ensuring follow‑through
  • Researching unfamiliar topics quickly and factually, especially in scientific or technical domains
  • Preparing materials and decisions grounded in objective information, not speculation or buzzwords
  • Handling many small but critical tasks with consistency and care
  • Acting as a reliable extension of the core team — not waiting to be told what to do

In short: You are the person who ensures things move from “should happen” to “actually done”.

Non‑Negotiable Traits
  1. Ownership & Reliability
    • You take responsibility seriously.
    • You follow things through.
    • You respond and act when needed, including across time zones.
  2. Comfort With Ground Work
    • You are not allergic to repetitive, operational, or manual tasks.
    • You do not see such work as beneath you.
    • You understand that real competence is built through execution.
  3. Intellectual Rigor
    • You value accuracy, evidence, and clarity.
    • You avoid overconfidence and hand‑waving.
    • You are comfortable saying “I don’t know” — and then figuring it out.
  4. Learning Speed & Judgment
    • You can self‑learn unfamiliar domains quickly.
    • You can distinguish reliable information from noise.
    • You use AI tools intelligently — without outsourcing thinking or responsibility.
  5. Language Ability
    • Professional fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese for research and operational work.
    • Able to communicate clearly and precisely in both.
    • Comfortable evaluating English technical or scientific content.
Backgrounds That Tend to Fit Well (Not Requirements)

We do not require finance or investment backgrounds. We tend to value:

  • Science, engineering, medicine, law, or other rigorous academic training
  • Research, lab, manufacturing, or hands‑on operational exposure
  • Early‑stage startup or execution‑heavy environments
  • Individuals 1–3 years into their career reassessing their trajectory
  • Recent Master’s or PhD graduates seeking real‑world responsibility

We are generally less excited by:

  • Purely finance‑oriented or presentation‑oriented roles
  • Profiles optimized mainly for soft skills without hard execution
  • Candidates avoiding operational responsibility
Practical Details
  • Location: Singapore
  • Travel: occasional
  • Working hours: flexible, but expect intensity
  • AI tools: encouraged, judgment required
  • Driving license: a plus
