Job description

A commodity trading company is strengthening its Singapore commercial team and is searching for a Business Development Manager who thrives on building markets from scratch. This is not a maintenance role; it’s a frontier-opening mandate for someone who enjoys being dropped into ambiguity and turning it into revenue.

The team needs a sharp hunter—someone who knows how to sniff out opportunity, open doors, shape a market entry plan, and build trust with clients across Asia. Frequent travel to China is expected, and experience operating in the China market—whether through direct sales, channel development, or strategic partnerships—will put you several steps ahead.

What you’ll be driving
  • Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities across Asia, with a heavy focus on China.
  • Build an expansion roadmap, from market scanning to client origination to deal closure.
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies in new verticals and emerging segments.
  • Engage C-level stakeholders, negotiate commercial terms, and manage the full sales cycle.
  • Work closely with regional leadership to shape long-term growth plans.
What sets you up for success
  • Proven track record as a hunter—someone who lands new accounts, not just manages existing ones.
  • Strong exposure to China: business development, partnerships, industrial/technical sales, or market entry.
  • Confidence operating independently, with the resilience to navigate unstructured environments.
  • Ability to travel frequently and build relationships across cultures.
  • Strong commercial instincts with a knack for spotting untapped opportunities.
Why this role matters

You’ll be joining a high-growth organization with ambitious regional plans. The business already has a solid foundation; what they need now is someone who can unlock the next wave of opportunities in China and beyond. If you’re hungry, entrepreneurial, and ready to leave a mark, this is a rare runway.
