Job description
Job Purpose

The AV Technician is responsible for providing essential support for events, presentations, and installations that requires audio and visual technology.

He / She is required in setting up of audio and visual equipment at outlets within the club or required locations under SRC and directing in all maintenance activities and implementing Preventive Maintenance on all audio and visual equipment (microphones and sound speakers to video screens and projectors) and other maintenance projects.

Job Responsibilities
Setting Up of Equipment
  1. Set up of equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing.
  2. Set up and operate Audio/lighting/Visual/VMix consoles within F&B outlets for bands, festivals and club events.
  3. Adhere to mechanical specification and operational manuals to ensure accuracy, current and applicable to Club’s equipment.
  4. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure that AV systems are compatible with existing infrastructure.
  5. Ensure high-quality AV output. Conduct thorough checks before and during events to ensure that audio and video quality meet professional standards to provide optimal experience.
Technical Support
  1. To carry out routine checks on AV and VC systems and equipment to ensure they are in working condition.
  2. Set up, configure, and program digital sound mixers (e.g., Yamaha, Allen & Heath, Behringer).
  3. Operate audio visual equipment during meetings, including sound levels, remote cameras, video playback, and webcasting. Troubleshoot and resolve audio issues promptly during live shows and performances.
  4. Troubleshoot technical issues and provide on-site support to resolve any equipment malfunctions or user problems promptly.
  5. Regular maintenance and inspection of AV equipment to ensure reliability.
  6. Perform routine checks, cleaning equipment, and making minor repairs as needed. Coordinate with Operations Team and contractor to repair the system if required.
Collaboration with Event Planners and Vendors
  1. Coordinate with event planners, Vendors and organiser to ensure AV needs are met. Work closely with other event staff, and Vendors to align schedules and technical requirements.
Post-Event Breakdown
  1. Responsible for dismantling and packing up all equipment, ensuring that everything is returned to its proper place and in good condition.
  2. Ensure that all furniture and equipment, and service-ware are accounted for, properly handled, regularly serviced and maintained to reduce excessive wear and tear, safely stored and manage inventory effectively.
Workplace Safety
  1. Assist in emergency situations, including fire-fighting procedures when required.
  2. Ensure safety and compliance in AV storage area and work areas.
  3. Follow the workplace safety and health system, safe work procedures or safety rules implemented at the workplace.
  4. Not engage in any unsafe or negligent act that may endanger yourself or others working around you.
  5. Use personal protective equipment provided to you to ensure your safety while working. You must not tamper with or misuse the equipment.
Others
  1. Attend to requests/ queries, feedback and complaints pertaining to AV and VC systems and equipment, and provide professional advice on.
  2. Able to access current systems and recommend improvements based on technological advancement and client needs. Staying updated with Industry Trends to provide the most current and effective AV solutions.
  3. Perform any other duties/projects Supervisor and/or Management.
Skills and Competencies
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in AV, sound, or event technical operations
  • N/O level or Professional Certificate, Higher NITEC/NITEC in electrical/mechanical Engineering discipline preferred
  • Strong knowledge of audio equipment (mixers, microphones, amplifiers, speakers)
  • Working knowledge of video equipment, projectors, LED wall screens, and display systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot audio, video, and lighting issues efficiently
  • Basic networking and IT knowledge, including IP addressing and network troubleshooting
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good time management and attention to detail
  • Calm under pressure during live events
