Job summary

A leading reinsurance firm is seeking an experienced Associate Director to join their Treaty team in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in treaty reinsurance with a strong focus on the Indonesian market. Responsibilities include developing client relationships, identifying business opportunities, and negotiating treaty programs. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is highly desirable. This is a senior, client-facing role with strategic responsibilities.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Associate Director to join our Treaty team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the Indonesian (and broader ASEAN) reinsurance market, established client and reinsurer relationships, and a proven ability to structure, negotiate, and place treaty programs. This is a senior, client-facing role that requires strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with cedants, reinsurers, and key stakeholders in Indonesia and the wider region.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering innovative reinsurance solutions tailored to their business needs.
Business Development
  • Identify new business opportunities across the Indonesian market, with a focus on treaty placements in property, casualty, motor, and specialty lines.
  • Expand the firm's regional footprint through networking, referrals, and strategic market engagement.
Placement & Negotiation
  • Lead the structuring, marketing, and placement of treaty programs with regional and international reinsurers.
  • Negotiate optimal terms, conditions, and pricing on behalf of clients.
Market Expertise & Strategy
  • Provide insights into market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics within Indonesia and ASEAN.
  • Contribute to the firm's strategic growth initiatives across Asia-Pacific.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Mentor junior brokers and contribute to knowledge-sharing across the regional team.
  • Collaborate closely with analytics, claims, and specialty experts to deliver best-in-class client outcomes.
  • Your scope of duties is not restrictive and may be expanded at the company’s discretion.
Requirements
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in treaty reinsurance broking, with strong exposure to the Indonesian market.
  • Established relationships with cedants, reinsurers, and regulators in Indonesia.
  • Proven track record in originating and placing treaty reinsurance programs.
  • Strong technical knowledge of treaty structures, underwriting principles, and reinsurance wordings.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate in a multicultural, fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English is required Bahasa Indonesia proficiency highly desirable.
