About Mēkā

At Meka Innovation, we are a multidisciplinary design and engineering studio turning creative ideas into innovative products. Our projects range from product design and animation to advanced fabrication — blending creativity, technology, and strategy under one roof.

We’re looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Assistant to the Design Team — someone passionate about design, eager to learn, and ready to help bring ideas to life.

This is an entry-level position created to support our design team with project coordination, documentation, and creative assistance. Within 6 months, strong performers will have the opportunity to advance into a Junior Designer role.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work closely with the design and creative teams to support day-to-day operations, documentation, and client deliverables — helping to keep projects on track while gaining valuable design experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project & Administrative Support

  • Assist in preparing client briefs, design decks, and costing sheets
  • Coordinate schedules and timelines to avoid project overlap
  • Take meeting notes and assist in task tracking and follow-ups

2. Research & Creative Development

  • Research design trends, materials, and reference visuals
  • Compile inspiration boards and assist in idea generation
  • Help prepare presentation decks and visual documentation for client reviews

3. Documentation & File Management

  • Organise design assets and project files in Google Drive
  • Maintain version control for design iterations
  • Document project progress with photos, notes, and visuals

4. Procurement & Vendor Liaison

  • Source design materials, samples, and components from suppliers
  • Communicate with vendors for printing, prototyping, or fabrication needs
  • Track and follow up on design-related orders and deliveries

5. Design Support

  • Assist designers with layout work, simple mock-ups, or prototype preparation
  • Support photography or documentation of design outputs
  • Learn and assist in digital tools like Rhino or Fusion 360 (depending on project type)
Who You Are
  • Diploma or Degree (or currently pursuing) in Industrial Design or Product Design or a related field
  • Passionate about design, storytelling, and making ideas tangible
  • Curious, organised, and proactive in solving small problems before they grow
  • Strong communication skills - oral and written
  • Comfortable with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Slides)
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Fusion 360, Rhino and/or other tools
Why Join Us
  • Learn from a multidisciplinary team working across design and engineering
  • Get hands-on exposure to real-world product design and creative processes
  • Work on meaningful projects that merge design thinking and execution
  • Clear pathway to Junior Industrial Designer position within 6 months for high performers
  • Be part of a creative environment that values curiosity, craft, and collaboration
