About the job Assistant Manager, Hull & Structural

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Assistant Manager, Technical for an established and international shipowner company based in Singapore. The Assistant Manager, Technical will play a vital role in managing newbuilding projects, from vessel design review to construction supervision, and contribute to the company's sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate would have strong project management experience in vessel newbuilding's and a solid technical background in naval architecture or marine engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in procurement of competitive new vessels by gathering market intelligence and reviewing latest vessel designs.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders to establish tender requirements and participate in vessel tender processes.
  • Manage newbuilding projects end-to-end, from design phase and drawing approvals to construction monitoring.
  • Investigate and propose specification changes with internal teams, providing periodic project progress updates.
  • Conduct supervision at shipyards to ensure vessels meet design and operational requirements, preparing supervision reports regularly.
  • Contribute to environmental sustainability strategies and action plans from a technical perspective, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support ad‑hoc technical projects and assignments as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a shipyard or shipping company.
  • Background in shipyard design (preferably including basic design) or technical department experience in a shipping company.
  • Good knowledge of container vessels, including construction and cargo equipment.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Willingness to be stationed at shipyards as required.
